Adaev Gennadij Anatolievich (Russian: Адаев Геннадий Анатольевич, pronounced [ɐʹdaʲəf]; born 4 October 1967) is an icon painter, the author of architectural church projects.
He was born on October 04, 1967 in Yelets. In 1986, he graduated from Orlov Art School. From 1988 to 1994, Gennadij Adaev studied at Krasnoyarsk State Art Institute (now Dmitri Hvorostovsky Siberian State Academy of Arts). His specialist field was Interior and Equipment.
In 1994-1996, he accomplished the iconostasis and painting of the Church of the Yelets Icon of the Mother of God as well as the Feasts tier and the bottom tier of the Church of the Nativity of Mother of God.
Since 1996, he has been the Head of the Metropolitan icon-painting workshops of the Omsk-Tarsk Diocese.
In 1996, he accomplished a set of painting and architectural works for Achairsky Holy Cross Monastery, the Church of Dmitry Solunsky, the chapel (home church) of St. Theodosius of Chernigov, the Church of John the Forerunner on Waters, the Holy Dormition Cathedral.
In 2000, he received the Medal of St. Sergius of Radonezh for services to the Russian Orthodox Church.
From 2001 to 2014, he designed interiors and both exterior and interior decors of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Omsk.
Creative activities
Gennadij Adaev created such new images as the icon of Holy Hieromartyr Sylvester (1998), the Akhtyrsk-Achairsk icon of the Mother of God (2001). Also, the iconographs of Omsk Hieromartyrs Michael, John and Nicholas (1998) were compiled. The main icons by G. Adaev in Omsk and the Omsk region are: Our Lady of the Sign (Church of the Sign, 2001); Our Lady of Iver (Iver Chapel, 2001); The Nativity of Christ (Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ, 2001); Holy Martyr Sylvester, Royal Gates (St. Nicholas Cossack Cathedral, 1998, 2003).
