Sycheva Larisa Borisovna (Russian: Сычева Лариса Борисовна, pronounced [sɨ´tɕɵvə]; born 18 March 1954) is a Soviet, Russian choreographer, teacher, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, winner of the Inspiration Prize, Professor at Dmitri Hvorostovsky Siberian State Academy of Arts.
She was born on March 18, 1954 in Tashkent. In 1972 she graduated from the Tashkent Choreographic School. She trained at the Leningrad Academic Choreographic School in the class of People's Artist of the USSR N.M. Dudinskaya (1972-1974). In 1979, she completed an internship at the Mariinsky Theater in the class of People's Artist of the USSR N.A. Kurgapkina, in 1983, an internship at the Bolshoi Theater (class of People's Artist of the USSR.T. Semenova). She worked at the Abai Kazakh Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.
In 1978, the production of "Swan Lake" opened the new Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theater, where Larisa Borisovna was invited to work. She became the first performer of the role of Odette-Odile. During her solo career, Sycheva performed all the leading roles of classical ballet: Giselle, Mirta ("Giselle"), Kitri ("Don Quixote"), Phrygia, Aegina ("Spartacus"), Nikiya, Gamzatti ("Bayadere"), Lisa ("Vain Precaution"), Masha ("The Nutcracker"), Juliet ("Romeo and Juliet"), Tsar Maiden ("The Hunchback Horse"), Penelope ("Odyssey"). Carmen ("Carmen Suite"), Aurora "Sleeping Beauty", Esmeralda "Notre Dame Cathedral". She actively toured in the USSR and abroad as part of the Krasnoyarsk troupe. At home, in Spain, Portugal, Yugoslavia, Norway, the public and critics noted that Sycheva's dance is distinguished by academic purity, virtuoso mastery of technique, and a light high jump. Her skill and contribution to the cultural development of the country was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1986).
In 1993-1994, she was appointed Artistic director of the ballet of the Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theater.
In 1979, L.B. Sycheva began to engage in pedagogical activity: at the Krasnoyarsk Choreographic School and the Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theater. In 2000, Sycheva, People's Artist (since 1995) was invited to the Krasnoyarsk State Academy of Music and Theater (since 2018 - the Siberian State Institute of Arts named after Dmitry Hvorostovsky). Having started working at the university as an associate professor at the Department of Solo Singing, in 2007 Sycheva initiated the opening of the Department of Choreographic Art and headed it. At first, the staff of the department taught students of the specialty "Pedagogy of ballet", but gradually the arsenal of training areas expanded with the programs "Teacher of ballroom dance" (2007), "Teacher of modern dance" (2012), "Teacher of folk dance" (2013).
In 2013, Sycheva received a higher choreographic education at the Krasnoyarsk State Academy of Music and Theater (since 2018 - the Siberian State Institute of Arts named after Dmitry Hvorostovsky), creative director - E.V. Pavlenko; which allowed her to develop the Siberian choreographic school even more masterfully. A number of her students have the title of "Honored Artist of the Russian Federation": V. Arbuzova (soloist of the B. Eifman Theater), E. Vasilyeva, A. Yukhimchuk. Many of Larisa Borisovna's students dance at the Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theater named after D.A. Hvorostovsky: (A. Koreshnikova, E. Cherkashina, A. Yukhimchuk). Thanks to the pedagogical talent of Sycheva, the talent of I. Ablitsova, Honored Artist of Russia, soloist of the Kremlin Ballet (Moscow); K. Andreev, laureate of international ballet competitions; P. Ryasnaya, laureate of the Delphic Games (2011), laureate of international competitions; E. Khvatova, diploma of the Mikhailovsky Theater Grand Prix, diploma of international competitions flourished.
In addition to creative and pedagogical work, Larisa Borisovna conducts active research work: articles and textbooks on the history of the development of choreographic art, methods of teaching ballet have been published.
In 2012, L.B. Sycheva, professor of the Siberian State Institute of Arts named after Dmitry Hvorostovsky, was awarded the title of laureate of the Governor's Award of the Krasnoyarsk Territory "For the Preservation of Culture and Art". Since 2013, he has been a member of the Coordinating Council for Choreography. (Moscow), since 2019 – a member of the Russian Professorial Assembly. In 2018, she was awarded the Honorary Diploma of the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory "For long-term, conscientious work and high professionalism".
