Kolyanova (Asheulova) Svetlana Alekseevna (Russian: Кольянова (Ашеулова) Светлана Алексеевна, pronounced [kɐʹljanəvə]; born 26 September 1966) is a singer, Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation, soloist of the Krasnoyarsk Music Theatre.
Svetlana Kolyanova was born on September 26, 1966 in the town of Yurga, Kemerovo Oblast. As a child, she enjoyed dancing, directing, attended a drama group, studied at a music school (domra class), sang in a children's choir. Svetlana dreamed of becoming an actress.
In 1983, she entered the Chemistry and Technology Department, Tomsk Polytechnic Institute (her specialist field was Ceramic and Glassware Manufacturing Technology). There was a well-known opera studio (People's Opera Theatre) at the institute that had emerged in the 1940s. Kolyanova joined the creative group, they often toured. The teachers of the studio noted Svetlana's vocal abilities and organized her audition at the Tomsk Regional Music School. Subsequently, Svetlana’s life has always been connected with music and the stage.
In 1985-1989 she studied at the Tomsk Regional Music School, Tatiana Kashavovna Goikhman’s class (Russian: Татьяна Кашавовна Гойхман). In 1989-1994, she studied at the Krasnoyarsk State Institute of Arts (since 2018 – Dmitri Hvorostovsky Siberian State Academy of Arts), her specialist field was Academic Singing, Professor Natalia Petrovna Alekseeva’s class (Russian: Наталья Петровна Алексеева).
In her senior year, Kolyanova was invited to the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, made her professional debut singing the role of Susanna in the opera Le Nozze di Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (graduation performance). When working in the theatre, she performed the following parts: Carolina (Il Matrimonio Segreto by Domenico Cimarosa); Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Gioachino Rossini); Maria (La Figlia del Reggimento by Gaetano Donizetti); Oscar (Un Ballo in Maschera by Giuseppe Verdi); Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart); Musetta (La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini); Iolanta (Iolanta by Pyotr Tchaikovsky); The Snow Maiden (The Snow Maiden by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov); Violetta (La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi); Marfa (The Tsar's Bride by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov) and others.
From 2000 to 2005, Kolyanova worked as a soloist at the Krasnoyarsk Musical Comedy Theatre. She made her debut singing the role of Tsekhina in the operetta Lo Speziale (The Apothecary) by Joseph Haydn. She performed the following parts: Sylva in the operetta The Csárdás Princess (translated into English as The Riviera Girl and The Gypsy Princess) by Emmerich Kálmán; Adele in the operetta The Bat by Johann Strauss II; Marusia in the tragicomedy Moldavanka… Moldavanka!.. by Alexander Zhurbin (based on Odessa Stories and Sunset by Isaac Babel; in the USA known as How It Was Done in Odessa, in Russia also known as The Drayman and the King); Doňa Beatriz in the musical comedy They Do Not Joke With Love by Grigory Gobernik (based on the play La Dama Duende (The Phantom Lady) by Pedro Calderón); Oleandra in the operetta The Martyrdoms of St. Michael by Mark Samoilov (based on the novel Factory of All Saints by Harald Bergstedt); a widow in the musical comedy Grooms by Isaak Dunayevsky. In 2011, she was again invited to the Krasnoyarsk Musical Comedy Theatre, and today she often appears in current repertoire performances and concerts.
Svetlana Kolyanova tours in Russia and abroad: Vladivostok, Kemerovo, Omsk, Ivanovo, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Poland, Switzerland (2011), Great Britain (2005, 2006, 2008).
Kolyanova is the winner of regional and All-Russian competitions. In 1996, she became the winner at the Season Results Regional Review Contest, organized by the Krasnoyarsk branch of the Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation in the nomination The Best Bit Part in a Musical Theatre for the role of Esmeralda in The Bartered Bride by Bedřich Smetana. She received the Best Opera Actress Award at the Regional Festival Theatre Spring for the role of Oscar in the performance Un Ballo in Maschera (1997). In 1999, she won The Best Bit Part Award at the Regional Festival Theatre Spring for the role in the performance Khovanshchina by Modest Mussorgsky. In 2000, for the role of Maria in the performance La Figlia del Reggimento by Gaetano Donizetti, Kolyanova received two awards: the Best Actress Award at the Golden Mask National Theatre Festival and The Best Actress in a Musical Theatre Award at the Season Results Regional Review Contest, organized by the Krasnoyarsk branch of the Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation and the Committee for Culture and Art of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Government. In 2002, Svetlana Kolyanova received the title of Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation. In 2003, Svetlana became The Best Actress in a Musical Performance at the Regional Festival Theatre Spring for the role of Leonora in the musical comedy They Do Not Joke with Love by Grigory Gobernik. In 2012, for the role of Serafina in the performance The Mad Night or the Marriage of the Pharmacist by Gaetano Donizetti based on his opera Il Campanello di Notte (The Night Bell) she was awarded a special diploma of the Regional Festival Theatre Spring “For Vocal Style Perfection in a Comic Opera”. In 2013, she received a diploma from the Expert Council of the Regional Festival Theatre Spring “For Convincing and Original Embodiment of the Image in the performance Marlene. My 20th century”. In 2016, she became the winner of the Regional Festival Theatre Spring in the nomination The Best Female Part in a Musical Theatre, Operetta Theatre for the role of Donna Lucia d'Alvadorez in the comedy Hello, I'm Your Aunt! by Oscar Feltsman (based on the play Charley’s Aunt by Brandon Thomas).
