0Kazimir Pyotr Nikolaevich (Russian: Казимир Петр Николаевич, pronounced [kɐɪʹmʲir]; born 22 January 1969) is a musician, Professor at Dmitri Hvorostovsky Siberian State Academy of Arts, Honoured Artist of the Tyva Republic.

Pyotr Kazimir was born on January 22, 1969 in the village of Sofiivka, Pervomaisk Raion (administrative district), the Mykolaiv Oblast (the Ukrainian SSR). In 1988, he graduated from Mykolaiv State Music School, A. V. Bogma’s trumpet class. From 1988 to 1990, he was a Senior Instructor-Musician (Assistant Soloist) of the 3rd Exemplary Military Orchestra of the Guard of Honour in Moscow (Military Unit 01904).

After his military service from 1990 to 1995, Kazimir studied at Krasnoyarsk State Institute of Arts (since 2018 – Dmitri Hvorostovsky Siberian State Academy of Arts) – V. N. Styro’s trumpet class; V. P. Troyan’s wind band conducting class. Being a student, Pyotr worked in the orchestra of the Krasnoyarsk State Musical Comedy Theatre (1991-1992); in the Symphony Orchestra of the Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre (1992-1993; 1997-2010); in the Krasnoyarsk Philharmonic Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments (1993-1995). From 1995 to 1997, he was a soloist of the Volga Band Concert Wind Orchestra at the Saratov Philharmonic and a musician in the symphony orchestra at the N. G. Chernyshevsky Saratov Opera Theatre.

Since 1998, he has been teaching at his alma mater – Dmitri Hvorostovsky Siberian State Academy of Arts at the Department of Wind and Percussion Instruments. From 2006 to 2014, he was the Head of the student wind orchestra. He also taught trumpet, conducting and instrumentation at the Krasnoyarsk College of Arts (now the P. I. Ivanov-Radkevich Krasnoyarsk College of Arts) and was the Head of the student wind orchestra there too. The orchestra under his direction won the Grand Prix of the Ensemble and Orchestral Music Competition (Krasnoyarsk, 2002); the First prize at the 8th All-Russian Patriotic Television Festival Young Russia (Krasnoyarsk, 2002); participated in the program of the International Festival Jazz over the Yenisey (2009, 2010) and the 4th Andrey Petrov All-Russia Festival (2010); was awarded the 1st degree in the nomination "Student Orchestras" at the 2nd International Festival of Wind Orchestras and Ensembles Fanfare in the Centre of Asia (Kyzyl, 2014).

From 1990 to 2015, he was the Artistic Director of the Krasnoyarsk Brass Quintet, which participated in the Heart of Asia International Jazz Festival. The band toured in Korea (2006), in Germany (2007) and took part in seven International festivals.

He also created the variety orchestra Krasnoyarsk Summit Band (2006-2010), which consisted of the best Krasnoyarsk students and musicians. The orchestra repeatedly performed in the Grand Concert Hall of the Regional Philharmonic and was a regular participant of the International Festival Jazz over the Yenisey. The leading jazz musicians Eve Cornelious (the USA), the Syndicate group (the USA / West Germany); Daniel Kramer, Igor Bril, Sergey Manukyan (Moscow); Irina Babicheva (Krasnodar); Veronika Makhotina (Krasnoyarsk) and others performed with the orchestra.

In 2008, he participated in the creation of the Wind Orchestra of the Government of the Republic of Tyva. In 2009, he was awarded the title of Honoured Artist of the Tyva Republic.

In 2015, Pyotr Kazimir graduated from Novosibirsk State Conservatory named after M. I. Glinka, Professor A. A. Lyudmilin’s class (his specialist field was Opera and Symphony Conducting). From 2010 to 2018, he conducted the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra. Since 2017 he has been working as a conductor of the Symphony Orchestra at Dmitri Hvorostovsky Siberian State Academy of Arts. He also worked as a conductor and arranger with orchestras in Irkutsk, Khakassia, Tyva, Latvia, Poland, Belarus.

In 2010, he was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor and in 2019 – the academic title of Professor. Since 2019, he has been holding the position of the Head of the Department of Orchestra Wind and Percussion Instruments. He devotes himself to composition and arrangement: writes music for performances; arrangements for ensembles; chamber, symphony, wind orchestras and big band.

Kazimir gives master-classes and public lectures in Russia and abroad. In 2020, he initiated, organized and held the First All-Russian Wind Art Forum The Yenisey Fanfare-2020" on the base of Dmitri Hvorostovsky Siberian State Academy of Arts; the participants were the world's best performers in the sphere of wind art.

Pyotr Kazimir is the winner of many prestigious competitions and festivals. In 2003, by the Decree of the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, he was awarded an Honorary Certificate “For many years of dedicated work and a great contribution to the development of musical art”. In 2007, Kazimir was awarded the Governor’s grant for his personal contribution to the development of culture in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. He received the Medal “For Faith and Goodness” from the Governor of the Kemerovo Oblast Aman Tuleev (2013); the Badge “Vasily Agapkin 100 Years of the March "Farewell of Slavianka” (Kemerovo, 2013); the Badge “300 years of Military Music in Russia” (Kyzyl (2014); the Badge “For Contribution to the Development of Wind Art” (Minsk, 2020).
